Surreal landscape

This was a recent assignment in my graphic design class, we had to make a "lie" or "tall tale" with images found on the internet or of our own making.  I interpreted this as surrealism so I decided to make a  landscape that wasn't real and in no way could ever exist.

Second Storyboard

Here's the second storyboard.
This one was made around Christmas and I had recently gone to  Black Friday sale.  In the class, we were given a set of storyboard panels and we had to recreate them into our own story.  Seeing as it was the holiday season and the panels showed the characters waiting in line, why not have it at a Black Friday sale at the mall?

This is also based on some past experiences I have ha when trying to entertain children in long lines and either they think I'm funny or I'm crazy.

Storyboards

These are some storyboards I have retouched recently.

This first one is a three panel story called "Lexi and Her Brain"

Panel 1- Lazy Brain
Panel 2- Brain with headphones
Panel 3- Waltz Brain

The inspiration for this story came from my mom telling me how classical music stimulates your brain, which is why some parents play Mozart for babies.  In my case it was Tchaikovsky's "The Nutcracker Suite" which I listened to constantly as a child.  When I drew this, I had recently discovered the "Swan Lake" Waltz and if you look closely at Lexi's music player you'll see that she was listening to "Swan Lake", I love adding tiny interesting details, especially since some of my favorite books were the "I Spy" and "Where's Waldo" books.

The Dark Character Sketches

In the Fall 2013 Semester my Writing Workshop Class underwent several group projects.  The group I was a part of created the webcomic: "The Dark" by, Chris Sanchez which can be read here: http://thedarkcomic.blogspot.com/2013/12/the-dark.html

I was responsible for creating the character Samantha who is the protagonist of our comic.  As seen below I went through many design changes for her character.

My initial sketch for Samantha.  This was done before the team decided the year our comic would take place.

Another initial sketch for Samantha in her nightgown.

These dress sketches were made after the descision to set the story in the Georgian Era (1830's)

Final sketch for Samantha.

Final Sketch for Samantha in nightgown.
In addition to character design I and the rest of the team did page layouts for Chris to draw over as a means to manage time with our class final approached.  The pages i drew layouts for in order 1-3 are below.

These were done in Photoshop, roughly, as the main focus here was panel, character and speech bubble placement.
